HONDA EV PLUS DEALER LIST -- HOW TO GET ONE!
| You can only lease, not buy, a Honda EV +. This may be for the best, if better EVs come along
(such as the Solectria Sunrise). If you are in the Orange County area, you can see and drive in our car, or make
an appointment at a Honda Dealer who carries the EV+ to take a test drive. It's a three year lease, which covers ALL maintenance (even tyres!) and comprehensive and collision insurance. You must provide your own Liability Insurance (min. 100-300). In addition, Honda may require that you have a garage and that you know the limitations and issues involved. The lease price varies with location. In SoCal, it is around $489 per month. You pay one month in advance and outrageous registration fees (based on Honda's mythical sales price of almost $60,000), about $1500, to drive the vehicle off. In addition, Honda may insist that you buy a so-called "connective charging device", or, basically, a glorified plug. Until and unless Electric Vehicles lose some of their very well-funded enemies, there will be such burdensome restrictions placed on using them. As compensation, perhaps, Honda and Edison will assist you in installing a "Time of Use (TOU)" meter which gives you a special rate (4 cents per kwh, or about one-third of the residential rate) for charging during off-hours. Drawbacks: the TOU meter rents for $5 per month, whether you use it or not, and the rate for peak usage during the summer is much higher than the non-TOU rate. So get a schedule of times to use it. |
